Gundam senjou no kizuna, anyone played this before?
It's called "Gundam senjou no kizuna" or "ガンダム戦場の絆", and I think it's only in Japan atm, not sure though, anyone else played this?
The game is not a single player, but an 8 ppl networkplay. You first have to make your personal ID card, which then acts like a memory stick storing all your stats and mobile suit infos. Like most gundam games, you start with the low-end Mobile Suits, and as you rise up the ranks you get to purchase weapon upgrades, new MS or stats.
You enter one of these pod-like things that emulates a cockpit shown above and basically pilot your MS in the first person view with controls apparently not too dissimilar from a bulldozer (never driven one before so wouldn't know). The graphics are good (nothing like halo3, but good enough for what it is), not in the pic though , but it's easy to get motion sickness if you're not used to it.
Edit: = = they have it on wiki, and it's better explained than my poor attempt above, so here's the link:

Oh wow!, the Japanese are so lucky. They always got some great toys to play with. The game look a bit like Rise from the ashes on the dreamcast but a lot better graphic. Is it one year war setting as well?
Wonder how much it gonna cost just to import one? lol

Thats looks pretty awesome..Reminds me of the old Dave and Busters Mech-Warrior Battle pods...the controls where based on the books...you had pedals to make the mech walk, you had to smash both of them to activate the jump jets...you even had to push buttons in sequence to switch weapons and wait for them to active it was pretty BA...
Here's the only write up on them i could find and its from 04

EDIT: found a schematic of the pod

^ yeah nearly all gundam games for console are junk, sadly. Don't get me start of the PS3 one, uttery crap imo. Only a handful of them are good, side stories on the DC and Saturn are great, the G Generation series are good as well.
Oh! that's remind me, I never did see F91 even know it's been out since 1991! might go and download it later.

What's awesome is that I'm actually half Chinese (Hong Kong) and half Japanese so I can easily understand this stuff
If you translate 戦場の絆 into English, it's something like Bonds of the Battlefield.
To be honest, I don't think it's just Japan. Even here in Hong Kong there are some shops based on the arcade games from Japan, so who knows, there be a couple of them around Asia too!

Doubt it will ever come out in the west, the arcade market here is dying rapidlly since it can't keep up with the technologies from the east, no network play, game card and so on.
Anyway I was thinking about sign up to the gundam mmo awhile back, there's a group of english speaking people playing that game. But the register page, menu are all in japanese so I gave up. :P

Gundam MMO? That sounds interesting...
The problem with a lot of Japanese innovations is that they don't find a good foothold in Western countries. It's a shame in my opinion.
Can't blame them though. If the market isn't big enough, it's not worth the expense.

There used to be an english link as well but couldn't find it now. Few people that I know from the emulator group are playing but like I said, the language barrier is way to thick for me. There was a plan for the western release though, although that was a year ago.
